About

Hello! My name is Becca, and before I was even old enough to know who I was, I was a traveler. When I am traveling, the world comes to life. Not unlike the Greek myth of Persephone, each travel experience and venture out of my lair feels like summer, spring, and fall. When I am home, winter descends. And while there are things about winter and home that are wonderful, I always long for summermy next travel experience beyond the norm and a new perspective. Hence, the Persephone Perspective.

I have spent half my life in the States and the other half living and traveling throughout the world. I believe that more global problems could be solved if people had more stamps in their passports, so I want to share what I’ve learned to inspire and empower others to travel. While traveling is a double-edged swordit can bring money, but it can also bring degradationI believe that travel done right is a powerful tool to bring new perspectives, break down biases, and facilitate growth. Travel doesn’t have to be expensive or difficult, so return here often to discover the tips and tricks I’ve learned and am excited to share with you! Feel free to ask any questions, and I will do my best to answer. I hope we can be friends!

  2. Hey Becca! I’ve nominated you for the Liebster Award, this is an award in recognition of great blogs with smaller followings. My post will be going up shortly, simply answer my 11 questions that I ask you in a post and nominate 3 other blogs and ask them 11 questions (the rules will be in my post too). If you decide to participate, don’t forget to link back to me so I can see your answers! 🙂

      • Thank you Becca. I truly appreciate our friendship and camaraderie. So cool to hear of your adventures. Looking forward to reading about it. Would love to go to Belize. Have heard they are becoming somewhat like Costa Rica to protect the precious forests. 🙂

  3. I’m just getting started with my own travel blog to share my stories. How do you go about becoming successful and maybe paid? I’m currently only writing through blogspot. How do you manage your own page? How did you manage to travel for all that time? I work full time and currently go to CSUF to get my BA in Anthropology. I just don’t know how one can do it! 😉 Any guidance is appreciated.

    • Hey girl, these stories are from before I started my travel blog. The traveling is easy but the writing is challenging and time consuming. I work as a technical writer and I don’t get paid to travel. I just travel because I love it. I started my blog not to make money, but to share my love of travel. Doing something that you love with no thought of recompense is how you get successful. With success, you can start getting sponsorships and collaborations with companies, but that won’t come until you are very successful. In the meantime, there are many ways to travel cheaply. I’m sorry I haven’t shared them on my blog yet–I am super behind and haven’t even posted for more than a year. But check back soon! Best of luck to your blog! Happy travels fellow traveler. 🙂

  4. Hey! I recently discovered your Instagram and am so inspired by you and your family! My son was born preterm as well, although not as early as your little guy, but I am still able to relate to so many of your posts. Thank you for sharing such an intimate experience with the rest of us. I’m wondering how you are able to live such an incredible life! I went to Europe last year and completely fell in love with travel. Everything you’ve said about it is true and I’m hoping to give my son the same experience. I’m a single mom but I know that if I work hard enough I can share my love of travel with him, and it gives me something to hope for and look forward to. I guess I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your awesome journey and thank you for inspiring me to live my dream one day!

    • Oh thank you for taking the time to write me such a sweet and supportive message Rachel! Travel doesn’t have to be expensive. As long as you remain flexible, there are tons of ways to make it affordable. I really need to get into blogging again and share some tips about cheap travel and traveling with kids. I’m embarrassed that my blog is so outdated! As a single mom of a preemie baby, you are my hero!! I am so excited for you to show your little one the world, since I think that is one of the most valuable gifts my parents ever gave to me. Sending so much love and support your way. xoxox
